The district has come up with some new requirements in order to receive the Howard Hunter Award for 2007. The 2007 award year starts on November 1 and ends October 31, 2007. Following are the requirements i.e. you must participate in all of these activities
Popcorn Sales ($100 Min Sale) - Adults just need to show they made an effort to participate in selling Scouting for Food Winter Camping Activity (Polar Bear, Winterfest, etc) Scout Show/Scout-a-Rama Long-term camping (5 nights Min.) Minimum 15 nights camping with unit Unit Service or Conservation Project @ Palmetto Council Camps (6 hour min.) District/Council Camporee *****IMPORTANT If a boy signs up to participate in one of the above activities but cannot go due to unforeseen circumstances such as a death in the family or illness, he will get credit for participating. If a boy is not participating in an activity due to a school activity that is required for a grade and he wants to receive credit for the activity, it is his responsibility to contact the Scoutmaster who will then assign him a scout activity to take the place of the missed event.

When a boy participates in a service project, it is his responsibility to sign in and sign out. If a boy forgets to sign out, he may not get credit for his hours.

Any Scout who is interested in being a Den Chief is invited to attend the cub den meetings. The den meets on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Mondays of the month beginning at 7:00 PM at India Hook Methodist Church. The cub leaders are very enthusiastic about having extra help and this is a good opportunity for the boys to gain leadership skills.

Money credited to boys' individual accounts: bring aluminum cans (washed, crushed, and counted, ink cartridges, and old cell phones (BE SURE TO CHECK THE LIST TO SEE WHICH CARTRIDGES AND CELL PHONES WILL EARN YOU MONEY - NOT ALL DO)

A Scout must sell at least $60 worth of popcorn in order to avoid having to pay the $20 registration fee in January.
